Spring Woods Tigers: Run Report
It was a banner year for the Spring Woods girls cross country team.
At the District 17-6A Meet, the girls scored 73 points, finishing third overall and qualifying for the Class 6A Region III Meet for a second-straight year.
Senior Catrina Pardo was the highest finisher at the district meet, finishing fifth overall (19:36.26), while teammate Brittnie Balbuena (20:04.90) finished ninth overall individually.
"I started running when I was in elementary school. I joined a club called Girls on the Run and that was my first taste of running.
I loved it," Pardo, who finished 56th overall at the regional meet, said. "It's a very hard sport. It's coming at 6 am and running miles and miles."
Looking towards next fall, Spring Woods will bring back Olivia Saucedo (16th at district), Angelina Castelli (19th at district), Adelisse Olive (28th at district), Britney Bulux (30th at district) and Ana Cardenas (33rd at district) to help lead this team back to the top.
For the guys, they finished seventh at the district meet, led by sophomore Eduardo Garcia, who finished 27th overall.
