Arlington Martin holds a 2-1 record this season with their only loss coming in their opening game against Lake Travis. Led by senior quarterback Cydd Ford who has 761 passing yards and nine passing touchdowns, the Warriors shouldn't be overlooked as they prepare to face off against the Dragons. Junior running back Michael Zaire Barrow and senior wide receiver Trey Cochran lead the warriors in receiving. Barrow has 13 catches for 217 yards and three touchdowns while Cochran has 19 catches for 284 yards and two touchdowns. Junior running back Javien Toviano is hot on his feet with nearly 190 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 22 carries.
Southlake Carroll comes in undefeated on the season with big wins over the likes of Highland Park, Rockwall-Heath, and Prosper. Everyone has seen that junior quarterback Kaden Anderson is the real deal getting the ball through the air while junior running back Owen Allen continues to dominate the rushing game for the Dragons. Allen has six touchdowns and 515 of the Dragon's 582 rushing yards on 63 carries.
Southlake Carroll tends to take everything week-by-week. They always enter a new game ready to roll with any challenges that they may face. Because of that, fans will se a strong outting from both Anderson and Owens as well as the rest of the Dragons' offense. On the other end of things, we will see a strong Southlake Carroll defense put up a battle for Martin's offense.
The Legacy Ranch Wranglers have done everything in their power to embrace the history and pedigree of Liberty Hill ISD while carving out their own identity and traditions as the district’s newest high school. When the Wranglers step onto their brand-new field at “The Ranch” Friday night (8/28) to begin their first full season of varsity play, they’ll face a team that knows the feeling.
It wasn’t all that long ago, after all, that Manor New Tech was the new kid on the block. The Titans eased onto the Austin area scene with minimal fanfare eight years ago as the second, smaller school in Manor ISD.
That’s why, even with all the blue blood programs in the area, this historic first game for Legacy Ranch against Manor New Tech is our first 2026 VYPE Central Texas Game of the Week.
Coach Tim Knicky’s Wranglers have quietly laid the groundwork for their debut. Following a successful all-freshman campaign in 2024, the Wranglers posted an 8-2 mark last year with seven of those games involving JV opponents. Still a year removed from having a senior class, the Wranglers will make their debut in a brutal, head-scratching and bizarrely drawn District 13-5A-2 that lumps them and cross-town rival Liberty Hill in the same district as schools from New Braunfels and the San Antonio area. They’ll have to grow up fast.
New Tech has struggled since the program’s inception, but head coach Derrick Lewis seems to have the Titans heading in the right direction as he begins his third season at the helm. The Titans finished the regular season at the .500 mark for the first time in program history last season and made their first-ever playoff appearance. They’ll compete for a playoff spot in a compact 6-team District 14-4A-2 that features smaller school powerhouses Wimberley, Giddings and Lago Vista.
Some new teams burst on the scene and achieve immediate success; others, it takes a little while longer. When Legacy Ranch hosts Manor New Tech – in a matchup featuring two former NFL players as head coaches -- casual fans will get a chance to check out two fresh faces on the Austin area high school football scene.
