BACK-TO-BACK STATE CHAMPS: Dallas Christian routes Geneva School of Boerne
The Dallas Christian School Lady Chargers (22-8) have done it again! For the second consecutive year, the Lady Chargers capped their season with a state title. The team gave everything they had and the hard work more than paid off on Friday, February 24th at Robinson High School in Waco, Texas as they routed Geneva School of Boerne (28-6) for the TAPPS 4A Girls Basketball State Title by a score of 41-27.
If you would have told either of the coaches before the game that only 26 points total would have been scored in the entire first half of the game, neither would have believed you. With two teams that have a knack for not only being physical on the court, but consistent in scoring, fans across the state probably assumed there would be much more scoring from both teams right out of the gate. Through the first two periods, fans witnessed a back-and-forth defensive battle between the Chargers and the Eagles.
After regrouping at halftime, both teams came out ready to set a tone. The Lady Chargers got right to work and instantly began extending their lead without taking a single moment to look back. As Maddie Perkins, Kennedy Chappell, Jackie Schlegel, and the rest of the Lady Chargers continued to set the tone for the rest of the game; Perkins finished just two points away from 1,000 career points.
Dedicated to the game and each other, both teams have everything to be proud of after finishing their seasons in the TAPPS State Title game.
