The 2018-2019 athletic calendar has concluded, so VYPE San Antonio will have a series dedicated to notable performers and moments over the past year. We kick it off with the area's top 10 UIL teams.
No. 1: 2018-2019 Converse Judson Girls Basketball
The Rockets won their first state championship, reached their second straight UIL state title game and third straight UIL state final four, and finished the season with a 38-5 record.
No. 2: 2018 Cuero Football
The Gobblers split their first two games, but followed that with a 14-game win streak and their fourth UIL state championship since 1973.
No. 3: 2019 D'Hanis Softball
The Cowgirls earned their first state championship, advanced to their second straight UIL state final four, and finished the season with a 24-7-1 record.
No. 4: 2019 D'Hanis Baseball
The Cowboys grabbed their second state championship since 1995, and finished the year with a 25-4 record.
No. 5: 2018-2019 San Antonio LEE Boys Soccer
The 26-3-1 Volunteers stormed to their first state runner-up finish, which included a 1-0 loss against Flower Mound, a 4-1 penalty kick defeat, and a 100 minute battle.
No. 6: 2018 Fredericksburg Team Tennis
The Battlin' Billies won their second UIL state championship since 2015, advanced to their fourth UIL state final four since 2014, and finished the year with a 19-5 record.
No. 7: 2018 Great Hearts Monte Vista Boys Cross Country
The Lions won the UIL 2A state title because four of their runners (Duncan Naylor, Levi Wiatrek, Diego Flores and Joevonne Juarez) finished between third and 10th at the season's final meet.
No. 8: 2019 Alamo Heights Tennis
The Mules grabbed their third straight UIL 5A girls doubles state championship because Fiona Crawley made her third straight appearance in the event and teamed up with Brianna Wilbur for the second straight year.
No. 9: 2019 Boerne Tennis
The Greyhounds won their second straight UIL 4A girls doubles state championship because Georgia Rice and Catherine Coe teamed up for the event again.
No. 10: Blanco Baseball
The Panthers used a 10-1 postseason record to set up a 33-5 season mark, as well as their second state title game appearance and third UIL state final four since 1988, but finished the year two runs short of the ultimate prize in a 2-1 loss against Wall.
