THE RANKINGS: Bishop check-mates The Woodlands; Randle dominates

It was a lighter weekend across the Houston area as several districts enjoyed a bye before opening district play.

The headliner came in Willis’ 42-30 rivalry win over The Woodlands, where Texas Longhorn commit Jermaine Bishop Jr., showed off his full arsenal. Playing quarterback, running back, and even wideout, Bishop was a one-man highlight reel. And that’s before you even mention what he does on defense. The victory puts Willis firmly in the driver’s seat for the district title, with College Park looming in the weeks ahead.

Meanwhile, how about the Waller Bulldogs (3-1)? They stunned Top 10 Cypress Woods in a one-point thriller, a statement win that rockets Waller into the Top 25 rankings.

In Class 5A, the story was Randle’s dominant win over Fort Bend Marshall, sending a clear message to the rest of the state.
