THE POWER RANKINGS: Westlake, Glenn continue to pace Austin area Girls rankings

Back in the day, a dominating NASCAR driver could literally lap the entire field on his way to winning a race. That’s Westlake Girls Basketball in 2025-26, as the Lady Chaps have basically lapped everyone in the Austin area.

Shout out to #2 Glenn, who not only defeated two ranked opponents last week, but came the closest to knocking off the Lady Chaps, falling by 13 points on Christmas Eve eve. Dripping Springs is the last squad standing between Westlake and a perfect regular season.

While Liberty Hill, Vandegrift and Round Rock held serve, the Rankings got a little bumpy outside the Top 5. Yes, #6 Lake Travis fell hard to Westlake but that’s about par for the course at this point. The Lady Cavs remain in 6th place. Right behind them, district mate Austin High edged Bowie. But since the Lady Dawgs defeated the Lady Maroon’s by double digits in their first meeting, Bowie still clocks in – narrowly – ahead of Austin High as well as another 26-6A team in Dripping Springs.

Cedar Park remains inside the Top 10 despite a narrow loss to Glenn, largely thanks to sweeping #11 Rouse in two close contests earlier this year. New Tech continues as the only 4A team at #12 while Crockett moves up to #13 despite concerns about their strength of schedule. Finally, Cedar Ridge hung tough against #4 Vandegrift and earned a split with Vista Ridge to climb back into the Rankings. Austin LASA and Hays lurk just outside the party looking for a way inside.
