After a 30-win season and a run to the 6A-D2 Region II Final, Cypress Springs finds itself in reload mode — not rebuild.
The Panthers lost standout Ayla McDowell to South Carolina and Jemini Mitchell to Legion Prep Academy in Dallas, but the program’s standard under 12th-year head coach Taneisha Rogers remains the same: win and advance.
Only one starter returns from that deep playoff team, yet Cy Springs is far from starting over. Floor general Tamiah Harrison and sharpshooter Nevaeh Smith bring stability to the backcourt, while Madison Madkins, Milan Barnes, and Daija Barrow are primed to carve out larger roles as the Panthers chase a seventh straight postseason berth.
And then there’s Makenzie Jackson — a Class of 2029 phenom whose size, skill, and poise have already made her a name to know in Houston basketball circles. The future isn’t just bright; it’s already walking the halls at Cy Springs.
