THE JUMP: Yates, Morton Ranch are Houston's top hoop troops; rankings

Dallas has owned us.

When it comes to boys' basketball, the Metroplex has stood at the top of the mountain each of the last five seasons outside of 2016 when Cypress Falls took the 6A crown.

Last year, the Dallas-area took home the 6A (Duncanville), 5A (Mansfield Timberview), 4A (Oak Cliff) and 3A (Dallas Madison) boys basketball state titles.

The last time Houston brought home two boys hoops state championships in the same season was in 2014 when North Shore took the 6A crown and Jack Yates captured the 4A title.

Could 2020 be a repeat?

Morton Ranch looks the part as the best 6A squad in Houston, anchored by Baylor-commit LJ Cryer and TCU-commit Eddie Lampkin. Yates is loaded with talent, making them a viable threat in Class 4A.

So, can the city reclaim its tag of Hoopston? Check out VYPE's Preseason Public School Top 20 below.
