THE CULTURE: South Oak Cliff's Jason Todd has done the unthinkable inside Bear den
Jason Todd is South Oak Cliff football.
Before Todd arrived, neither the Golden Bears nor any Dallas ISD program had celebrated a UIL football state championship in 58 years. Nearly six decades of waiting came to an emphatic end when Todd led South Oak Cliff to back-to-back state titles in 2021 and 2022.
The Golden Bears weren't finished. They returned to the state championship game in 2023 and 2024 before reclaiming the throne with another state title in 2025, cementing SOC as one of Texas high school football's modern dynasties.
Today, the standard at South Oak Cliff is simple—championships. Todd has transformed the culture inside the Golden Bears' locker room and throughout the hallways, creating an expectation of excellence that extends far beyond Friday nights.
VYPE's Matt Malatesta sat down with the legendary coach to discuss football, his day-to-day life, and the championship standard that now defines South Oak Cliff.
