PLAY BALL: No. 2 Lake Creek reloading in 3... 2... 1...

No. 2 Lake Creek Lions

The Lions have been the premiere program in the State of Texas the past few years.

The last two, Lake Creek has hoisted the trophy at the end as State Champions. But this will be a slightly different looking team.

Ava Brown – the Gatorade Female Player of the Year – is off to Florida and Maddie McKee is off to LSU. Coach Michelle Rochinski stepped down to spend more time with family.

So, enter Candyce Carter as the new leader of the den, which still has plenty of talent from the 44-1 Class 5A State Championship a year ago.

Carmen Uribe (University of Central Arkansas), Chesney Davis (Texas State), Alyson Higginbotham (Tarleton State University) and Bella Battaglia (Louisiana College) are all back. Uribe, Higginbotham, Piper White and Madalyn Davis were all named to the UIL All-State Tournament Team along with a plethora of other awards.

The key to success for Carter’s crew as they look to defend the crown is “being intentional with the things we do, focusing on what we can control, and prioritizing the importance of mental strength.”
