ON THE RISE: Carlton-led No. 3 Seven Lakes carries extreme potential

Seven Lakes finished last year 21-14 overall and fell in the Area Round of the playoffs.

Now, the Spartans will try and make a run in the senior year of the best women’s basketball player in Texas. Justice Carlton is the highest ranked girls basketball prospect by ESPNW in Texas.

However, the University of Texas-commit won’t return until December after a knee injury. She averaged 22.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists and two blocks per game as the District 19-6A Offensive Player of the Year in 2023.

Madi Carlton, who earned District 19-6A Newcomer of the Year, averaged 13.6 points and 11.4 rebounds per game. This Carlton duo will be ones to watch in the entire city.

Another name to take note of is Shreya Jategaonkar, who averaged 8.5 points and 2.9 assists per game a year ago. Fulshear move-in Kimora Lopez is verbally committed to Morgan State University and will be another key contributor this season.

The motto for Seven Lakes is simple this year – “One Team, One Goal.” That goal resides in San Antonio as Doug Watson enters his first year of leading the program.
