Two teams that started the season off in completely opposite fashion meet this Friday night in Greenwood. The Bulldogs opened the season against Fort Smith Northside in what looked, on paper to be one of the better games in the state last week. Greenwood quickly turned what should have been a close game into a decisive victory
However, Fort Smith Southside had a rough first game against the Bentonville West Wolverines. Southside will have to tighten up in the secondary. The Mavericks gave up over 300 yards through the air. Southside's offense will need to sustain drives and chew up the clock to have a shot of winning this game. Keeping the Greenwood offense will be a priority for Jeff Williams and his Mavericks.
Greenwood quarterback Jace Presley will be looking to light up the Southside defense the way he did the Northside defense. Presley passed for over 280 yards and four touchdowns against Northside. It will not just be Greenwood's offense that Southside will have to contend with. Greenwood cornerback Colin Daggett was a menace against Northside, accounting for five tackles and two forced fumbles.
This will not be an easy match up at this early part of the season for Southside. The game Friday will be hard fought with Greenwood winning 40-24.
