Madi Williams recently won the VYPE Houston Public School Preseason Girls Basketball Player of the Year Fall Poll! VYPE caught up with Williams for the 411 on the star from Deer Park.

VYPE: How long have you been playing basketball and how did you get your start?
Williams: I started playing basketball in 6th grade and I started playing because my aunt always talked about playing but she had dibeates and was too sick to ever play so I wanted to play for her.
VYPE: Who's your favorite athlete and why?
Williams: My favorite athlete is probably Steph Curry because he always knows how to create shots for himself and he is a leader on the court. All time though, my favorite player is Kobe Bryant. He always wants to outwork everyone, and he knew he would be the best cause he would work harder.
VYPE: What's your pre-game meal? Routine?
Williams: I don't really have a go to pre-game meal but if I had to choose though I would say a turkey sandwich from Subway.
VYPE: Off the court, what is your favorite thing to do?
Williams: My favorite thing to do off the court is spend time with my friends or family especially my little cousins
VYPE: What's your favorite subject in school?
Williams: My favorite subject in school is english because I love writing.
VYPE: What is the one memory from the game you'll never forget playing basketball?
Williams: One memory I'll never forget is advancing in the playoffs against a strong team who we had never beat before. Our team had worked so hard, our coaches pushed us and the whole week before practice was intense. When the game came we executed and it made me realize how much love i had for the game. After the game we got to celebrate with our team and coaches and go back to work the next day.
