As the UIL State Tournament kicks off, plenty of teams are fighting for their chance to hoist the championship trophy at the end of the weekend. As the UIL Class 6A girls gear up to play their respective state semifinal matchups, VYPE DFW takes a look at the two DFW-area teams that have made a name for themselves this season and are still in the running toward the championship!

<p><strong>Friday, April 14 at 9:30 a.m.</strong><br></p><p>The Lady Raiders have put up one of their best seasons yet this year. Posting an undefeated record while allowing only a combined five goals against them, Wylie East shut out 24 of their 28 opponents this season. To open preseason play, the Lady Raiders shut out seven straight teams (McKinney, North Forney, Plano East, Lake Highlands, Texarkana Texas, Longview, and Lufkin). Heading into district play on a high, the strong Wylie East squad continued their dominance taking down team after team with victories over the likes of Sachse, Wylie, Rowlett, Garland, and more. </p><p>So far in playoffs, the Lady Raiders have continued to make a name for themselves on the field as they've battled to claim their spot into the state tournament. Wylie East has ended the seasons of Royse City (8-0), Mansfield Legacy (3-2), Rockwall (1-0 in double overtime play), The Woodlands (3-0), and Cypress Bridgeland (2-0). </p><p>As the team prepares to take on a tough Ridge Point squad, fans can expect the Lady Raiders to continue their dominant style of play. Ridge Point is an excellent team that is going to give Wylie East a run for their money, but if the Lady Raiders continue to use their power to set the tone early in the game and play a physical match there is no reason fans shouldn't see them in the state title game.</p>
