1 — CYPRESS SPRINGS PANTHERS
There is no sugar-coating this: Cypress Springs is a heavy favorite to make it to the Alamodome from H-Town.
The Panthers are led by five-star and No. 20 nationally-ranked prospect Ayla McDowell, who is a two-time District MVP
and All-Region selection.
The South Carolina-commit is the highest-ranked Houston-area prospect for the Class of 2025 in the espnW HoopGurlz rankings.
The next big star rising in the hoop ranks also resides at Cypress Springs in Jemini Mitchell, who is ranked 14th in the espnW Class of 2027 rankings. Mitchell is already a five-star athlete who was the District 16-6A Newcomer of the Year last season.
Other players to watch include Prairie View A&M-commit Margan Allen and first-team, all-district pick Melanie Hodges.
This team went 30-3 a year ago and reached the Regional Semifinals and 11th-year coach Taneisha Rogers is ready for them to make a run to the Dome.

2 — HIGHTOWER HURRICANES
The Hurricanes are coming off a Regional Finals appearance in 2024 and look to build on that to try and propel the program to a State appearance.
Fort Bend Hightower went 31-4 a year ago and fifth-year coach Jasmine Brewer returns three starters off that squad.
TABC All-Region selection and Loyola University-commit Chandler Preston-Caver (10.7 ppg), Newcomer of the Year Ogechi Okeke (10 ppg, 7 rpg), and second-team, all-district pick Kailee Beaudion-Foliaki (7.1 ppg, 3.1 rpg) – a Northeastern University-commit – are set to return.
Keys to success for the Hurricanes include mental toughness, locking-in defensively and playing with discipline.

3 — SUMMER CREEK BULLDOGS
Former Chaparral HC Kiara Marshall enters her first season directing a Summer Creek team that’s coming off an appearance in the UIL-6A State Tournament.
This marked the third time in five years the program had accomplished said feat and finished the winter with a record of 35-4. As per usual, a relentless defense and threatening fast-break will be strong-suits for the Bulldogs in 2025.
Junior guard Kennedy Simpson is back after receiving a TABC All-Region nod and will provide the veteran leadership needed to make it back to San Antonio. Following the graduation of District MVP Zachara Perkins and Mariyah Brown (first-team), there will be some big shoes to fill in the starting rotation.
However, SCHS should still be in capable hands with second-team, all- district selection Taiya Kikunga (Sr. PF/C), Endia Thomas (Sr. PG) and sophomore guard Addison Martin in the fold.
Gold is the goal for the Bulldogs, and they’ll remain one of the city’s top squads before proven otherwise.
