Each week we take a look at a team from across the Austin/San Antonio area/surrounding areas that impressed us for one reason or another.
This week's team of the week is none other than the Anderson girls lacrosse team. The Anderson girls lacrosse team took home the D2 Lacrosse Championship this past weekend. On Saturday they defeated Keller 14-8 in the Semi-Finals before taking care of Rockwall in the Championship game 14-11.
This is the first State Championship for a program that could have had a couple in my opinion if it were not for COVID. They started their program in 2019 and were a great program off the bat before COVID put an end to their 2020 campaign. Then in 2021 they came up just short in the State semifinals.
But this year, their second full year, they came into the season on a mission, especially for some of the seniors that helped get this program going in 2019 and they delivered. They finished the year undefeated, allowing only 81 goals all year while scoring 313 while also finishing as the top ranked team in D2 and the #2 team in the state of Texas.
Congratulations to the Trojans on a great season, and we are sure this won't be the last time we are seeing them in the championship hunt.
