THE PROGRAM: Legendary No. 14 Jack Yates has set the bar over three decades
The legendary Yates Lions
No. 14 — YATES LIONS
One of the true deans of Greater Houston basketball, Greg Wise continues to define excellence with his signature break-neckstyle of play at Yates High School.
The Lions’ resume speaks foritself — five State Championships and a 2010 National Title. Wise has been at the helm for four of those five banners, cementing his legacy as one of the most successful coaches in Texas high school basketball history.
This season, the Lions will be led by football star Joshua Wallace — a UTEP commit — who brings toughness and athleticism to the hardwood.
He’ll be joined by Roman Flanagan, Dakari Bolton, Riko Taylor, and Aiden Hudgen Mohammed, forming a deep and dangerous lineup.
After going 23–7 last season and advancing to the Regional Finals, Yates fell in a legendary 90–84 battle against Wheatley. But with their trademark pace, pressure, and football-like mentality, the Lions are poised to make another deep run once the multi-sport athletes return to the court.
Simply put — Yates basketball under Greg Wise is built different.
