HIGHLIGHT VIDEO: Denton High opens Week 1 in battle against Newman Smith
The Denton Broncos opened up their season at home on Friday, August 26th against a tough Newman Smith team. VYPE DFW was at the game to catch all the action! Check out our highlight video below!
RECAP
Putting forth all of their efforts in a close battle, the Broncos fell 43-42. Despite the loss, it was still a great start to their season that showcased plenty of talent. The first half saw the teams go score-for-score as they battled to go into halftime with the lead. Broncos quarterback Lawson Floyd completed 22 passes for 270 passing yards before an injury while Coco Brown carried the ball 151 yards on 19 carries for one touchdown.
Also scoring for the Broncos was Joesif Williams who brought in seven catches for 127 yards and two touchdowns, Ryan Crady who scored once on six receptions, and Andrew Price who scored once on two receptions.
Looking Ahead
The Broncos look to put week one behind them as they prepare to take on Chisholm Trail (1-0). With the heart that will get them far this season, the Broncos can be expected to take this week's action head on and showcase more of the talent they have been sharpening over the offseason. Be sure to check out Denton High this week at Chisholm Trail on Friday, September 2nd. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Big Bear Alexander commits to Georgia
Fans and programs alike have been waiting with bated breath to find out what program one of the highest sought after recruits was going to choose. On Wednesday, Denton Ryan Raider Big Bear Alexander announced his decision to commit to the Georgia Bulldogs' program on social media:

After naming his top 16 in December, the No. 2 DT in the nation, Alexander wanted to get a jump on his commitment. "With the window being so short- literally 11 months- I just decided to shut it down," Alexander said in an interview.
The 6-foot-3, five-star recruit from the 2022 class chose Georgia over other programs like Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Auburn, Baylor, and more.
