Coach Matt Meekins has his squad rolling right now with a defense that bullies offenses around and a balanced offense with a young signal-caller.

Westfield comes into the State Semis with a 13-1 record, it's only blemish coming at the hands of the North Shore Mustangs 24-21.

The 'Stangs have beaten the likes of Klein Cain, Tomball Memorial, Midway and Dallas Jesuit thus far in the postseason.

So, who's next? It's Denton Guyer (13-1), who won back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013.

The game will be played at Sheldon ISD Stadium Saturday at 1 pm and live broadcasted on KUBE 57 with Todd Freed and Matt Malatesta.

Westfield has to control the mistakes and turnovers to stay in this game. RB Kendal Taylor went off for 200 against Jesuit, and the SMU-commit needs another big game against a defense that is STINGY.

Sophomore QB Cardell Williams has the hopes of the northside on his shoulders… a sophomore. Yes, he can hand off to Taylor (a Klein Oak-transfer), but there is going to be times when he has to make plays. Luckily, he has Malachai Jones (Tulsa-commit) is his primary target and he's been through the battles for several years.

When in a bind, he can hand it over to the defense, but the offensive can't make a habit of it.

Nick Booker-Brown (Boise State-commit) and Dyllon Peavy are the heartbeats of the defense. DT Tim Hardiman (Navy) and safety Marcus Moore (Navy) do some heavy lifting as well.

On the other side, Guyer is "old school." They play tough defense and has an offense predicated on the run. Kaedric Cobbs has rushed for over 2,000 yards and QB Eli Stowers (Texas A&M-commit) has rushed for 1,000 and thrown for nearly 3,000.
