Second Baptist School honors six athletes on National Signing Day

It was a big day at the Second Baptist School.

On Wednesday, which was National Signing Day for every sport across the country, the Eagles had six student-athletes put pen to paper and sign to play football at the next level.

Second Baptist School record-setting quarterback Josh Johnson signed with Trinity University. Johnson was named the Touchdown Club of Houston Offensive Player of the Year for this past season and was a finalist for the Built Ford Tough Private School Player of the Year award.

Offensive lineman Dylan Cordell, who was the Touchdown Club of Houston Offensive Lineman of the Year for 2019, signed with SMU and defensive star Nate Dyman officially inked his letter to the Air Force Academy.

Other signees included Jared Monroe (Trinity University), Jay Coleman (Houston Baptist University) and David Nunez (Lehigh University).

This was a senior class that never lost a district game while at the Second Baptist School and has helped maintain the level of success by wrapping up the program's seventh-straight district crown this past year. This group also went undefeated in the regular season this year, which was the first time that's happened since 1999.
