Long & Regents End Wimberley's Perfect Season

By VYPE Media's Amanda Lattimer.

The Regents School of Austin Knights (4-1) headed over to Wimberley High School in hopes to beat the Wimberley Texans (4-1) on Friday, and left Hays County as a 38-14 victor.

The Knights arrived at Texan Stadium with confidence and powerful energy, scoring a touchdown and field goal within the first five minutes of the game. Quarterback Wilson Long started the first quarter with quick feet on the field and the Knights also picked up a Texans' fumble in the period.

"We just had a lot of energy coming out," said Long. "We knew they were a good team."

At the end of the first quarter, the Texans started to show up and scored a safety, leaving the Knights up eight. In the second period, the Texans continued to put numbers on the scoreboard with their first touchdown of the game. The Texans tried for a two-point conversion as well, but failed.

Meanwhile, Knights' quarterback Wilson Long continued to throw long passes and had a touchdown pass at the end of the first half to make the score 17-8. Long continued his streak of touchdown passes when wide receiver Josh Franklin scored in the third quarter.

The Texans weren't going to just let the Knights keep scoring. Quarterback Cooper McCollum made an eye-opening 56-yard touchdown pass to Jaxon Watts, changing the score to 31-14.

The Knights refused to let the Texans catch up, as evident by Long's 67-yard rushing touchdown. This led to the final score of 38-14.

"We got a great team," said Long. "I think they played very well tonight. O-Line played great, moved the ball great. Receivers went for the ball and came back to it. So, [I] couldn't be more happy."
