VYPE caught up with a few Smithson Valley volleyball players to talk about the season and more! Check out the interview below!
Steele, meanwhile, finds itself in another heavyweight matchup after a tough road loss to Atascocita. The Knights will look to bounce back Friday night against Lake Travis, giving them little time to dwell on their first setback of the season.
Brennan secured its first win by lighting up the scoreboard against Reagan, while Madison, Canyon and 4A contender Davenport make their first appearances in the rankings. Davenport, in particular, will have a chance to make an immediate impression, facing unbeaten Boerne in one of Week 3’s more intriguing matchups.
The hierarchy is taking shape — and Week 3 has plenty of opportunities to shake it up.

The intrigue, however, extends beyond the teams that already have a result on the books. Smithson Valley and SA Johnson did not play in Week 1, leaving both at 0-0 as they prepare for their openers. The Rangers enter with an especially imposing résumé, having captured back-to-back 5A Division I state championships. Johnson, meanwhile, gets an immediate measuring stick in Vandegrift.
Brennan also enters Week 2 with something to prove after a 28-21 loss to Vandegrift in a game that came down to the wire. The Bears will have a chance to reset against Reagan, while San Marcos and Pieper look to respond after opening-week defeats.
Week 1 offered the first read. Now, Week 2 gives the picture a little more definition.
