The VYPE Media team traveled out to San Antonio Christian School earlier this year for the SACS 2021 Spring Media Day.

Smithson Valley (2-0), Johnson (2-0), Alamo Heights (3-0), and Brennan (2-1) each took care of business in commanding fashion, while Madison improved to 3-0 with a critical 24-16 victory over San Marcos. The win also propels the Mavs higher into the rankings this week.
Making their first appearance in the Top 10, the Champion Chargers (3-0) are looking every bit the team they were a season ago, when they advanced three rounds into the playoffs. Canyon also moves up the rankings after a 20-12 win over Brandeis, while Pieper rounds out the Top 10 despite a narrow 55-49 loss to Temple.
The road ahead gets tougher, and the margin for error gets smaller.

The 5A landscape is taking shape, too, with Smithson Valley (22-6) and Champion (21-5) quickly establishing themselves as the division’s benchmarks. New Braunfels (16-16), however, remains a formidable challenger capable of making things interesting on any given night.
Harlan (18-10), Brandeis (18-12), and Pieper (16-13) round out a deep 6A group, while Davenport (22-7) and Tivy (16-11) lead the charge among the 4A contenders.
With district races now underway, the hierarchy may be clearer — but there’s still plenty of volleyball left to rearrange it.

Steele, meanwhile, finds itself in another heavyweight matchup after a tough road loss to Atascocita. The Knights will look to bounce back Friday night against Lake Travis, giving them little time to dwell on their first setback of the season.
Brennan secured its first win by lighting up the scoreboard against Reagan, while Madison, Canyon and 4A contender Davenport make their first appearances in the rankings. Davenport, in particular, will have a chance to make an immediate impression, facing unbeaten Boerne in one of Week 3’s more intriguing matchups.
