The Strake Jesuit Crusaders
No. 19 Strake Jesuit Crusaders
Rasheed Sulaimon and Joey Brooks were legends at Strake Jesuit.
Sulaimon, a McDonald’s All-American, went onto Duke, while Brooks carved out a path to Notre Dame.
Together, they led the Crusaders to the UIL State Final Four in 2009, setting a high bar for future generations.
Now, the question is: Does Strake Jesuit have another star in the making? Sophomore Emmanuel Nwabuoku (6-foot-8) has the potential to become a household name in Greater Houston as a national recruit, but for now, he’s assimilating into a team that went undefeated in district play before falling in the first of the postseason.
Running the point will be Justin Thomas, paired with Evan Vuong in the backcourt, while seniors Therron Dutton Lewis, Peyton George, and Alex Hughes provide size, skill, and leadership up front.
With a mix of veteran leadership and rising talent, the Crusaders are poised to make some noise — and perhaps add a new chapter to Strake Jesuit’s storied basketball legacy.
