Every action, as the old saying goes, has an equal and opposite reaction. That’s loosely the case at Pflugerville Weiss, where former Prosper offensive coordinator Malcolm Hill moves south, assuming the athletic coordinator and head coaching position for the Weiss Wolves. Hill replaces Vernon Hughes who travelled up IH-35 to take over at Mesquite Horn after two successful seasons at Weiss.
“An answered prayer and a step of faith!” Hill exclaims on his new position as the Wolves’ top dog. “It is a great place with incredible kids who want to take that next step and have shown to be willing to take that next step through their actions thus far.”
A native of Plano, the 32-year-old Hill played for Frisco Liberty in high school and played cornerback at Rice. After stints as a graduate assistant at Central Missouri and quality control at Sam Houston University, Hill entered the high schools ranks. Following a year back in the Metroplex at Coppell and six years at Frisco Liberty, Hill guided Prosper’s offense to just under 40 points per game and consecutive playoff appearances.
Following the move to Pflugerville with his wife of seven years, their six-year-old daughter and four-year-old son, Hill hopes to build on the success Weiss has had over the years of the school’s relatively short existence. And, as he quickly points out, he hopes to influence other intangible qualities off the field as well.
“To be a light and to serve these kids, coaches and school!” Hill states his expectations. “I expect this team to exemplify our values as a team and be the foundation starters of the total program we are building here at Weiss.”
Spoken like a true pack leader.
