20 Oct, 2022
After going winless in district in 2021-2022, Lake Creek currently sits at 7-0 and 3-0 in district heading into their week 8 matchup against Rudder. With Senior Quarterback Cade Tessier at the helm, the Lions look to send their senior class off on a high note by making a deep playoff run. With their offense putting up serious numbers, Lake Creek feels and looks to have the talent to make a run in 5A DII

Welcome back to another ATX/SATX edition of Team of the Week. Each week we take a look at a team from across the San Antonio/Austin area and surrounding areas that impressed us for one reason or another.
This weeks team of the week is the Seguin football team. The Matadors have been off to a hot start this year. They currently sit at 6-1 on the year with their lone loss being to 6A rival New Braunfels. After that Week 2 loss, the Matadors have ripped off 5 straight wins including 4 district victories. Last weeks win may have been the most impressive with a 41-34 win over Hays.
The win sets up Seguin not only for a playoff spot but a potential playoff run. One of the most impressive things about Seguin's season is that they have been led by Freshman QB Corey Dailey. Dailey is 85/133 on the year with 1,172 passing yards and 18 touchdowns to only 4 interceptions. Helping him has been Senior Jakyari Matthews and Junior John'Avahn Jackson. Matthews has rushed for 345 yards on the year and Jackson has gone for 665 yards.
Seguin heads into their back end of district play with 3 tough games remaining (Canyon, Wagner and Smithson Valley). A win this Friday against Canyon could set up a huge Week 11 matchup against Smithson Valley that could be for the district championship.
