While we are in the middle of the club volleyball season, VYPE’s Matt Malatesta checked in with Michael Kane.
Kane, the head coach at Dripping Springs High School, is also the co-founder of Texas Volleyball Insiders and co-director of Austin Performance Volleyball.

THE RANKINGS: Is it the Year of the No. 28 Montgomery Bears?
LAST SEASON, MONTGOMERY WENT 28-19 OVERALL AND REACHED THE AREA ROUND OF THE PLAYOFFS AFTER DISPATCHING WEST FORK IN A CLEAN SWEEP IN THE OPENING ROUND.
The Bears fell to Friendswood in a five-set thriller to close out their season.
First-team, all-district pick Delaney Wright is coming off a superior sophomore season where she had 551 kills to lead the Bears and registered a second-best 494 digs. Wright earned a spot on the TGCA All-State Team. In 2024, Wright also set the single-match kills record with 33 against Friendswood, which broke the record set back in 2017.
UT-Dallas-commit Savannah Welch, a second-team, all-district pick, chipped in 267 kills and a team-leading 102 blocks, while honorable mention, all-district pick Peyton Harts had 194 digs, 164 kills and 40 blocks.
Second-team, all-district selection Ava Collins chipped in a team-leading 680 assists and 297 digs, while Kennedy Marriott, an
honorable-mention, all-district pick, had 469 assists and 229 digs to her name.
