HOOPS HIERARCHY: Brennan, Judson, Steele headline VYPE SATX Basketball Rankings at a critical juncture
As district play moves deeper into the schedule, the latest boys basketball rankings offer a clearer picture of which programs have established staying power and which remain poised to surge as the postseason approaches.
At the top of the 6A mix, Brennan has been as steady as any team in the area, opening district play unbeaten while pairing defensive consistency with an efficient offensive attack.
Judson has followed a similar path, using depth and tempo to maintain momentum through league action, while Steele and Clemens continue to track closely behind, each showing the balance and physicality needed to contend over the long haul. Suffice it to say that the District 29-6A race will be one worth monitoring.
Brandeis has also positioned itself firmly in the conversation, racing through district play and proving capable of controlling games on both ends of the floor.
Beyond the top tier, the middle of the rankings remains fluid. Warren has quietly put together a strong district start, showing resilience after a challenging non-district slate and emerging as a team that could complicate postseason draws.
In 5A, the race has been just as compelling. Veterans Memorial has leaned on experience and execution to navigate a demanding district schedule, while New Braunfels has paired scoring depth with consistency to stay near the top of the standings. Pieper has shown flashes of its upside in league play, and Alamo Heights continues to battle through a crowded district, with results that suggest the Mules remain a factor as the season progresses.

Changes Continue but Basketball Playoffs are Back in Action!
As if Covid-19 hasn't thrown enough bumps in the road, "Snovid" hit Texas and hit it hard! With schools shut down, and athletic events being cancelled, basketball teams had to continue to adjust. Girls teams constantly changed playoff games, and boys teams worked to finish in the top spots in order to find their ticket to the UIL Playoff Bracket.
Change may seem a little too familiar this year, but everyone is adapting. Tournaments were played to finish district play, and the post season schedule for girls got pushed back- but we are thankful to be back in action! Girls Finals will now be played March 10-11 at the Alamodome! Not having the crown of 2020 due to Covid, we are all highly anticipating the 2021 State Championship matchups!
See who is making their way to the top spot by following the UIL Brackets and SA area team playoff games!
