Locker Talk ATX/SATX Update (Ep.1): UIL State Girls Basketball Preview, TAPPS Hoops Recap & Boys Regionals
VYPE editor Thomas Bingham, Hill Country Indoor sports director Evan Beyer and "Producer Josh" Waclawczyk kick off the new Locker Talk ATX/SATX Update show. On this week's episode, the guys announce the final five Austin/San Antonio area girls basketball teams in the 2019-2020 UIL girls basketball state final four preview, recap the state success of area TAPPS boys and girls basketball teams and take a look at the regional playoff games that feature area UIL boys basketball teams.
Correction: Faith Academy of Marble Falls and Austin Waldorf School advanced their girls basketball teams, not their boys basketball squads, to the TAPPS state final four.

Big School
No. 1 Antonian College Preparatory: The Apaches won the TAPPS 6A state championship during the 2018-2019 season and will be the favorite to repeat in the 2019-2020 campaign because of first-team all-state Bryon Armstrong, Gavino Ramos and Juan Reyna, all-state honorable mention Devin Grant and second-team all-district Chance Felix.
No. 2 San Antonio Saint Mary's Hall: The Barons advanced to the TAPPS 6A regional final during the 2018-2019 season and will challenge for a state final four appearance in the 2019-2020 campaign because of first-team all-state Avery Eugster, second-team all-state Ben Eugster, all-state honorable mention Dane Huggins, first-team all-district Max Terry and second-team all-district Cooper Terry.
No. 3 Lutheran High School of San Antonio: The Mustangs advanced to the TAPPS 4A area round during the 2018-2019 season and can make another postseason appearance because of first-team all-state Mason Knowles, first-team all-district Zach Biedinger and David Wenthe, second-team all-district Stephen Jones, Noah Gonzalez and Dristin Riebel and district honorable mention Kody Lynch.
No. 4 San Antonio Christian School: The Lions advanced to the TAPPS 5A area round during the 2018-2019 season and can make another playoff run in the 2019-2020 campaign because of first-team all-district James Galloway, second-team all-district Elijah Pritz, Jackson Buffington and Tyler Jones and district honorable mention Ethan Joergensen.

No. 5 Schertz St. John Paul II Catholic: The Guardians advanced to the TAPPS 4A area round during the 2018-2019 season and will remain a playoff contender for the 2019-2020 campaign because of first-team all-district Dezmon Dudley and Joseph Kapavik, second-team all-district Calvin Kowalik and district honorable mention Connor Asadourian. Another player to keep an eye on is Mikey Rhoder.

No. 1 The Christian School at Castle Hills: The Eagles advanced to the TAPPS 3A state semifinal during the 2018-2019 season and will challenge for the ultimate prize in the 2019-2020 campaign because of first-team all-state Kenneth Williams, first-team all-district Nathaniel Biache and second-team all-district Andres Gallardo.
No. 2 Kerrville Our Lady of the Hills Regional Catholic: The Hawks won the TAPPS 3A state championship during the 2018-2019 season and will compete for another one in the 2019-2020 campaign because of all-state honorable mention James Ibarra and district honorable mention William Cummings. Also keep an eye on Dalton Herndon, Sam Cummings and Chandler Harris.
No. 3 New Braunfels Christian Academy: The Wildcats advanced to the TAPPS 3A bi-district round during the 2018-2019 season and will compete for another playoff spot in the 2019-2020 campaign because of all-state honorable mention Hayden Holcombe, second-team all-district Jordan Mesa, and all-district honorable mentions Jerry Wade, Hunter Holley and Clinton Levi Rostedt.
No. 4 Bulverde Living Rock Academy: The Bobcats advanced to the TAPPS 1A regional final during the 2018-2019 season and are in a position for another multi-round playoff appearance in the 2019-2020 campaign because of first-team all-district Kenny Lansing, and second-team all-district Adam El-Kadi, Bryan Prescott, Eric Stautzenberger, Bryce Woods and Braydon Woods.
No. 5 San Antonio Legacy Christian Academy: The Rams advanced to the TAPPS 1A state semifinal during the 2018-2019 season and will be a playoff contender again because of second-team all-district Parker Wilson and Matthew Fuentes.
