RECRUIT SCOOP: Blake Bost, Port Neches-Groves
Blake Bost led the Indians to a bi-district playoff appearance in 2019 as the junior was the #2 passer in District 12-5A. The senior-to-be will have plenty of weapons including senior Brady Nail (43 rec, 456 yds) to complement his attack.
VYPE contacted Bost during this quarantine period to check up on the Indians signal caller.
VYPE: During this time of quarantine what are you doing as an athlete to stay in shape and keep engaged with your coach and teammates?
Bost: During quarantine I am doing at home workouts everyday, and I am finding ways to go run and throw in the street or at a park or field. Me and my coach talk on the phone once or twice a week just to see how things are, and me and my teammates have a group message that we text in constantly so we don't lose that bond that we had before this.
VYPE: Explain a typical day in your life with the "stay-at-home" order and how are you engaging with your school work and personal life?
Bost: It has been really tough not being able to go throw and work with my teammates, but a typical day at home is: I wake up, eat a good breakfast, do my workout, do my homework, maybe find something on Netflix to watch, eat lunch, and then repeat what I did in the morning. My personal life, I am staying in touch with my friends and teammates constantly through social media or text.
VYPE: You're heading into your senior season with the Indians, what are your individual goals as you are coming off an all-district season from 2019? You were 2nd in the district last year in passing.
Bost: It would be awesome to lead the district in passing and rushing, but me, and my teammates, and coaches all offseason have been working on being "one" as a team and a goal of ours is a district title and a good playoff run to hopefully a state championship.
VYPE: The Indians had a playoff season in 2019, give us a sense on what PNG Football will like like this fall.
Bost: We had a great year last year, we have some great returners coming back with experience and we have some new guys that are going to have to step up.
VYPE: What is your 2-5 year plan of being an athlete? Are you looking to play at the next level?
Bost: I plan on going to play college football somewhere.
VYPE: What do you want your legacy to be at PNG once you leave in 2 years?
Bost: I want to leave a legacy of hard work and leadership to my teammates. and PNG has had some great quarterbacks in the past and I want to keep that legacy going.
