Fresh off a season that saw them clinch a fourth consecutive undefeated district title and finish 11-2, the Katy Tigers enter 2025 with familiar expectations—and plenty of returning firepower. Head coach Gary Joseph once again leads a program thriving in Texas’ toughest classification, even after last year’s Regional Semifinal loss to perennial power North Shore. The offense is once again led by senior running back Tremayne Hill, a first-team-all-district pick who eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards and scored 18 touchdowns in 2024. Up front, senior linemen LaMar Brown (first-team) and Andrew Freeze (second-team) bring experience and physicality, while senior wideout Cade McCall (third-team) returns after a breakout campaign with 450 receiving yards and five scores. Defensively, Katy is led by Louisiana Tech-commit Jeremiah Smith, a disruptive force at outside linebacker who earned first-team honors last fall. The secondary is bolstered by standout senior Isaiah McMillian, a unanimous first-team pick, and fellow senior Mason Dismuke. Additionally, junior linemen Isaac Coughran and Terry Brister add depth and potential in the trenches.

After an impressive 11-2 result and a third-round playoff appearance in their most recent campaign, Jordan returns to the field with confidence, in addition to a solid group of veterans. Under the tutelage of coach Mike Rabe, the Warriors finished second in the district standings last fall and appear poised to remain contenders despite some key offensive departures. While the graduation of standout receiver Andrew Marsh (Michigan) leaves a notable void, there’s no shortage of weapons on this year’s roster. Kansas State-commit Tanner West (Sr. ATH) returns as a dynamic all-purpose threat, racking up more than 1,200 yards and 13 total touchdowns a year ago. Senior QB Beau Bryant adds a balanced attack under center, passing for 1,213 yards and nine touchdowns while rushing for 619 yards and six more scores. The emergence of Bridgeland-transfer Ty Sexton should provide some much-needed depth at the WR position, while junior Landon Williams also steps into a larger role after earning third-team, all-district honors. On defense, the Warriors bring back several impact players. Senior DE Jimmy Alo-Suliafu (North Carolina) headlines the group after posting 70 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and eight sacks last season. The secondary is led by first-team selection Zachary Taylor (TCU) and second-teamer Jeremy Alo-Perry, who combined for four interceptions and over 120 tackles. Furthermore, junior pass-rusher Elijah Wright adds another layer of athleticism to a unit that will look to set the tone early.

A third-place district finish and a 7-4 record in 2024 gave Paetow a solid foundation—but not the postseason result they hoped for. Following an early playoff exit against Fulshear, David Hicks Sr. and his squad return this fall with a sharper focus and plenty of returning talent on both sides of the ball. Leading the charge offensively is senior lineman William Thornton (first-team, all-district) provides leadership and strength up front. Senior FB Kenneth Lee adds a physical presence in the backfield, while junior signal-caller Jaiden Noel brings fresh intrigue to the offense. A transfer from California, Noel is set to make his Texas high school football debut and could give the unit a much-needed spark. When it comes to stopping the opposing offense, Paetow leans on experience and physicality. Senior DL Daryl Campbell (Vanderbilt-commit) and defensive backs Jaeden Spelmon and Cordae Crist return as key playmakers, while senior linebacker Samuel Wright looks to be a tone-setter in the middle of the field.If the Panthers can find rhythm on offense and build around their veteran defense, they’ll be in position to make a deeper run when November rolls around.

Tompkins approaches the new season aiming to improve on last year’s 6-5 finish and early playoff exit. Head coach Todd McVey’s squad placed fourth in District 19-6A but has the personnel to make a deeper run this fall. The offense continues to be powered by junior running back Ethan Meadows, who emerged as one of the area’s top underclassmen in 2024. A first-team, all-district pick and the District Newcomer of the Year, Meadows rushed for over 1,300 yards and scored 25 total touchdowns, making him the focal point of the Falcons’ attack. Another major boost comes from the return of senior athlete Blake Hamilton, who rejoins the program after earning all-state honors at FBCA in both football and track. Junior Carter Young (first-team, all-district) adds versatility, while tight end William Mayes and lineman John Paul Culotta help round out a solid offensive group. On defense, the Falcons will lean on a veteran linebacker trio: seniors Walker McEachern, Fabio Aguirre, and Charles Holberry. Their leadership and consistency could be key in a competitive district race. Considering all the pieces they have in place, Tompkins has the potential to take a step forward in 2025.

Heading into Year No. 2 under head coach Mike Arogbonlo, Mayde Creek will have the intention of building on last season’s 5-5 result and climb the district standings. While the Rams finished sixth overall in 2024, their physical, defense-first identity remains firmly in place. Senior OLB Kosi Okpala headlines the returning group. A true game-wrecker on the edge, Okpala is a four-star prospect who possessed offers from several notable D1 programs, before ultimately landing on the University of Texas in July. He was a first-team, all-district selection and is expected to be the tone-setter once again. Junior linebacker Christian Arogbonlo (second-team, all-district), along with Juelz Davis (Sr. DB) and Damarre Duncan (Sr. OLB) round out a tough, experienced unit. Offensively, junior running back Julian Vela could emerge as a breakout candidate.

Cinco Ranch looks to bounce back from a 4-6 campaign, with several key returners in place as coach Christopher Dudley prepares the Cougars for another tough district slate. A 4-4 district record kept them in the mix last fall, and this year’s group brings both experience and upside. Offensively, senior running back Marcus Gadlin (second-team, all-district) leads the way after rushing for nearly 600 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. He’ll share the backfield with junior Brayden Gonzalez, who added 318 yards and seven scores, forming a reliable one-two punch. Senior wideout Drew Tureau returns as a top target after hauling in 41 catches for 550 yards and nine touchdowns, while senior Carter Kripki (second-team) anchors the O-Line. Meanwhile, senior DB Daniel Scarabino will be a difference-maker on defense, after earning first-team, all-district honors with 105 total tackles and one interception in 2024.

Seven Lakes made considerable strides in 2024, finishing 4-6 under head coach Jimmy Hamon – a steady improvement from previous seasons. As the Spartans hope to keep that momentum going, they’ll lean on a handful of veterans on the defensive side of the ball. Junior defensive end Hayden Gandolfo is back after leading the team in sacks (4.5) and ranking among the top three in tackles for loss (9). A third-team, all-district selection, Gandolfo brings consistent pressure off the edge. In the secondary, senior defensive back Matt Fowler also returns after earning all-district honors last fall.

With first-year head coach Chris Babin primed to breathe new life into the program, Katy Taylor enters the 2025 season looking to rebound from a 2-8 finish and an eighth-place district showing. Senior RB Xavier Haynes returns as the primary offensive piece, after rushing for 640 yards and six touchdowns last season. On defense, junior safety Landon Pina led the Mustangs with 62 total tackles and added a forced fumble. Senior DB Owen Brown also made his mark with 43 tackles, two interceptions, and one FF. There might be somewhat of a learning curve along the way, but Taylor could potentially offer some stiff competition.

After a winless 2024 campaign, Morton Ranch should be determined to reset under second-year head coach Nicholas Cavallo. Despite last year’s struggles, the Mavericks are focused on progress and getting back in the win column this fall. Senior RB Tyler Gilmore (second-team, all-district) will be the focal point of the offense. His leadership and production gives Morton Ranch a reliable foundation to build around as the program looks to take a step forward in District 19-6A.
