New Caney names Ball's Bennight as new head coach
Galveston Ball head coach and campus coordinator Sheldon Bennight has taked over the New Caney High School job.
“I’m excited about this opportunity for several of reasons,” Bennight said. “The support system from the central admin to the school admin to the athletic adminstration is well aligned, and this area is booming. There is a lot of energy here.”
While at Ball, Bennight went 28-6 over the past three seasons. He was an assistant at North Shore before Ball and was also at Sam Rayburn and Dickinson.
“Ball was a great experience,” he said. “The kids were hungry to win when I got there. It was a challenge to flip it around but the kids bought in. It was a great few years.”
Mike Dewitt was the head coach at New Caney for one season.
