Pitkin's Holt, Edwards; Grace's Miller highlight LBCA Class B All-State teams

Over the past few seasons, Districts 4-B and 5-B have been two of the best districts in Class B baseball with numerous title contenders and impact players.

Recently, the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association (LBCA) named its All-State teams and the Class B teams were highlighted by Pitkin coach J.C. Holt, Pitkin junior Garrett Edwards and Grace Christian junior Jimmy Miller winning top honors.

In Holt's first season, the Tigers capped off their first Class B title since 1999 by going 27-5 and defeating Converse, 7-0, in the Class B championship game in May.

Holt, who was awarded the Class B Coach of the Year by the LBCA, had an assortment of talent that was led by Edwards.

Sam Houston’s Silas Ardoin becomes Louisiana’s first-ever HS gold glove winner

MOSS BLUFF, La. (KPLC) - The Sam Houston Broncos are coming off its best season since joining Class 5A as Big Sam held a national ranking throughout the season en route to reaching the state championship game and finishing with a 37-5 record.

Awards and accolades have followed with the latest coming in the form of a gold glove for catcher Silas Ardoin. The ABCA/Rawlings announced the award on Twitter Wednesday night.

Ardoin was a force behind the plate as he threw out 21 of 27 would be base stealers. He also picked off eight base runners this season. His pop time is 2.03-2.12 with a catcher velocity of 76 and an exit velocity of 82 according to Prep Baseball Report.

Tioga's McGehee, Williams earn top honors on LBCA's All-Region 4 team

The accolades continue to roll in for Tioga's duo of Blake McGehee and Issac Williams.

Weeks after leading the Indians to their first title in 32 years and earning All-Cenla co-MVPs, the pair headlined the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association's All-Region 4 team as McGehee was named Pitcher of the Year and Williams took home Hitter of the Year honors.

McGehee went 10-2 with a 1.07 ERA and 76 strikeouts during 71.2 innings on the mound; Williams, a University of New Orleans commit, batted .440 with 8 home runs, 34 RBI and stolen bases.
