We're three weeks down in the Texas high school football regular season. There have already been some homecomings. Some teams are already entering district play and others are on their bye week.
In the case of this week's previews, we have two games with four teams wrapping up their pre-district schedules. And the two games on deck for our previews should feature plenty of offense.Let's get at it.
We're inside of 40 days before the start of the 2019 high school football season. Last year led to some pretty exhilarating moments and wonderful, underdog storylines.
And just like the professional and college ranks, success - and failure - breeds the constant revolving door for Texas high school head coaches.
So we're going to look at who's new at which school per classification.
In the 3A classification, 10 more schools had to replace coaches whether due to resignations or retirements. The 2018 combined records for these schools was 41-67 - an average of 4.1 wins to 6.7 losses - and a state championship.
2018 Record: 4-7
Old Coach: Scott Ponder
New Coach: Dale West
After five years and a 32-24 record, Scott Ponder moves up to the 4A ranks to take over at Center. Dale West makes the jump from 2A Collinsville after two years and a 16-7 record.
