18 -- DICKINSON GATORS
From the southside of Houston, the Gators were one of the city’s most formidable teams throughout the 2023-24 regular season.
Having gone 30-4, which included an undefeated (12-0) district championship, it appeared that Dickinson was poised for a lengthy run in the playoffs.
Unfortunately, they ended up suffering a 61-54 heart-breaker at the hands of Alief Taylor in the opening round.
Suffice it to say, coach Toya Peterson and company will be plenty motivated to flip the script this time around.
Peterson will have the luxury of bringing back her two leading scorers, seniors Jazmine Hansley (17.8 ppg, 6 apg, 4.7 spg) and Ciara Williams (17 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 3.2 spg), who will continue to light up the board.
Meanwhile, Lindsey Scott (Jr. G) and Troi’Sha Frederick (So. G) should expect some more action as they step into larger roles. Another district title could be in the cards for Dickinson, but they’ll have loftier ambitions in mind heading into this winter.

Here come the Gators into the postseason
IN FOCUS: Dickinson crushes Clear Brook; photo gallery
The Dickinson Gators blew out Clear Brook 45-7 to wrap up their regular season finishing 7-3 and third in District 24-6A.
Next up is Pearland in the first round of the postseason. The Gators will lean on junior QB John Solomon as the leads with his legs and arm. A stingy defense will help too.
