DEER NATION: Kieselhurst And Ramos Look To Lead Deer Park To Deep Run
The Deer are coming off a spring in which they cruised to an undefeated (12-0) District 22-6A championship. Subsequently, their momentum carried them to Round 3 of the ensuing playoffs, defeating North Shore and Clear Falls, before eventually falling to Clear Springs.
Entering 2025, Deer Park will look to conquer a new district (24-6A), where they’ll match up against the aforementioned Clear Creek ISD schools, among others. After using his arm on the football field in the fall, senior Landon Kieselhurst makes his way back to pitcher’s mound, following a year in which he received a first-team, all-district nod.
Meanwhile, the infield will be shored up by the likes of Andrew Ramos (Sr. 2B/first-team), Kaenan Kiefer (Sr. SS/second-team), and Christian Rogers (Sr. 3B). Miles Brown (Sr. OF/RHP) and Jace Monroe (Sr. C) round out the remaining returning starters for coach Chris Rupp to utilize, as the Deer prepare to make their presence felt from the southside of Houston.

THE RANKINGS: No. 9 - Deer Park Deer
Deer Park is coming off a year that saw them go 29-8 overall and reach the Area Round of the playoffs. Amy Vidal-Bush enters her fifth year of leading the program and has a 141-31 overall record and the 2021 UIL Class 6A State Championship in that time.
Six starters return for Vidal-Bush including Texas Tech-commit Braelynn Jones, the District Pitcher of the Year in 2024, Texas State-commit Camryn Plocheck (firstteam, all-district), and Temple College-commit Madi Alvarado.
Other key returners include first-team, all-district picks Izzy Mendoza, Kayla Barras, and Mia Montemayor (Texas Southern-commit) and secondteamers Aleena Carrizales (Texas Southern-commit), Mariah Ramirez and Zoie Powell (San Jac-commit). Other players to watch include Caitlyn Wade and Reily Hernandez.
Keys to success for Vidal-Bush’s crew include being more efficient offensively, pitching, and “learning from our lack of success last season and becoming the toughest, most competitive versions of ourselves”.
