MEDAL SEASON: CLHS standouts make noise at TAPPS State
Concordia Lutheran was preparing for the TAPPS State Meet long before this weekend.
Both Crusaders Track coaches, Bobby Lindquist (Boys) and Jacob Vasquez (Girls), have been efficient at optimizing the talent on their roster throughout the year, which is evidenced by the fact that ‘Sader Nation had over a dozen athletes who qualified for the final meet of the season.
Despite some choppy weather conditions during Friday’s series of Field events, CLHS went to Panther Stadium (Hewitt, TX) primed to compete.

The big headline was made by senior Ryley Klefstad who was named the TAPPS-6A State Champion in the Pole Vault event after leaping over a bar set 14 feet off the ground.
Concordia Lutheran would later have two more top placements, with junior Adele Neuhaus and sophomore Sara Ostermiller taking bronze in the Triple Jump (36-10.75) and Discus (108-03.00), respectively.

Saturday procured several impressive performances by the Crusaders as well, particularly with the Boys’ second-place finish in the 4x200 Relay with a time of just over 90 seconds.
While the overall team did not conclude last weekend as State Champions, the individual performances speak for themselves. Considering they have a relatively young group, expect ‘Sader Nation to be back for more a year from now.

Following their recent sweep against St. Pius X, the Concordia Lutheran Crusaders have become the undisputed TAPPS District (4-Division I) Champions, as the playoffs rapidly approach.
This doesn’t come as a major surprise, considering the dominance ‘Sader Nation has showcased all year, but capping off the regular season with an astounding 31-2 record (11-1 district) is a fitting way to enter the postseason.

What more can be said about the CLHS pitching?
Their ace, junior RHP Eoghan Collins, is throwing lights out with a ridiculous 0.54 ERA, while the rest of Concordia’s pitchers, which features the likes of Connor Jones (Jr.), Jeremiah McCranie (So.), John D. Mitchell II (Jr.), and senior Jake Skelly, turn up the heat to round out what could be the best bullpen in Texas.

If that’s not impressive enough, the Crusaders batting is just as efficient.
Anyone on the lineup can go off on any given night, whether it be senior Alex Petrovic (.487 leading BA), Zac Daigre (Sr.), junior Cole Lanclos (hit-leader with 41), Nolan Traeger (Jr.), Michael Herndon (Sr.), or freshman Ronin McCraw, just to name a few.

The TAPPS Area Round (Divisions I-III) begins this upcoming Tuesday, and with the State Championship taking place in just a few weeks, expect Concordia Lutheran to make a run for the Title as they prepare to wreak havoc on the grand stage.
