Ridge Point went 10-2 a year ago and reached the Area Round of the playoffs. The Panthers return 13 starters for sixth-year coach Rick LaFavers in 2025. A trio of quarterbacks – Romin Seymour, Brody Bartee and Travis Fielder – will be battling it out to replace Austin Carlisle. This team is loaded as 22 players have offers to play college football. The offensive line will be led by TCU-commit Jordan Burnett, Arkansas-commit Hugh Smith and Texas A&M-commit Avery Morcho. Whoever takes over QB1 will have an arsenal of weapons including WR Robert Haynes (Arkansas-commit), WR DJ Darling (New Mexico-commit) and WR Bailen George (New Mexico-commit). George had 442 yards and seven scores, while Haynes had 437 yards and six touchdowns. Defensively, the Panthers can be elite with the talent they have back. UCF-commit Preston Hall (OLB) and Colorado State-commit Jermaine Santana (DB) will lead the way along with ILB Dyllon Bennett. Last season, Bennett became the first sophomore in Ridge Point history to be voted a team captain and led the team with 97 tackles and 5.5 sacks. Other key returners include Romaire Smith (DL - 7 sacks), Robaire Smith (DL), Brayden Bonik (OLB), Khalen Taylor (OLB), Aaron Williams (DB), LaKaiden Fortenberry (DB), Ethen Washington (DB) and Bryson Dossett (DB).

Hightower went 9-2 a year ago and reached the playoffs for a sixth-straight season. Fifth-year coach Cornelius Anthony (42-10 at Hightower) returns just five starters from that team, with four of those on the defensive side of the ball. Defensive end Devyn Phillip will be one of the leaders on the defensive side of the ball for the Hurricanes. Anthony admits they will be relying on their underclassmen to step up in a big way. “Execution will be key. If we follow our rules and execute our assignments, we will be successful,” Anthony said.

Fort Bend Elkins enters year No. 3 under head coach Trae Grimes. The Knights went 7-5 a year ago and advanced to the Area Round of the playoffs. With 12 starters returning – seven on the offensive side of the ball – Elkins will be a team to contend with in District 21-6A once again. District Offensive Newcomer of the Year Tyson Craft is back after rushing for 1,244 yards and 19 scores on 190 carries last season. First-team, all-district receiver Saxon Gumabong nearly hit the 1K receiving yards mark, finishing with an impressive 948 yards and nine touchdowns on 45 receptions. Gumabong was a big-play kind of receiver, averaging 21.07 yards per catch. Defensively, second-team, all-district linebacker Emari Heyman is back after racking up 88 tackles (eight TFL), two sacks, three forced fumbles and one interception. Other key defensive returners include DB Camari Lewis (86 tackles, 2 FF< 1 INT, 3 blocked kicks) and LB/N LaDavian Red (79 tackles, 9 TFL, 1 sack, 2 FF, 2 FR). Lewis and Red were both honorable mention, all-district picks. Other players to watch include OL Elijah Bird and QB/ATH David Red (302 yards, 2 TDs passing, 144 yards, 5 TDs rushing).

Fort Bend Travis finished in third place in District 21-6A a year ago after going 5-2 in district play. The Tigers return first-team, all-district WR David Brewer, who had 369 yards and seven touchdowns. Eian Baker returns at QB1 after passing for 808 yards and 10 scores, while rushing for another 280 yards and two scores. Defensively, first-team, all-district picks DT Grant Merritt, OLB Malcolm Graham and FS Davis Kinney (Northwestern-commit) are all set to return.

Fort Bend Austin enters year three under Trey Herrmann at the helm of the program. The Bulldogs went 4-6 a year ago and missed the playoffs. A total of 12 starters return, with seven on the offensive side of the ball. Second-team, all-district QB Koen Herrmann is back after passing for 1,800 yards and 15 scores and rushing for another 400 yards and five touchdowns. The dual-threat signal-caller will be key to getting the offense going. Defensively, LB Jacobi Patterson is coming off an 82-tackle campaign, while OLB Zach Ashour had 8.5 sacks to his name. Both were named second-team, all-district. Other key returners include OT Daniel Busari, OG Aidan Stecher and DE Cortez Cook (14 tackles for loss).

Fort Bend Bush will be under new guidance in 2025 as Colonious McNeal takes over the helm. McNeal makes his way over from Fort Bend Hightower where he most recently served as the Defensive Coordinator of the Hurricanes. He takes over a team that went 2-8 and returns 15 starters, including first-team, all-district and Defensive Newcomer of the Year Robert Bankhead at cornerback. Second-team, all-district picks WR Rokeeb Okunnu, OLB McBright Ndukwe and DS/WR Anthony Poe are all set to return as well. Other players to watch for the Broncos include DT Jaiden Alvarado, DE TJ Isiorho, LB Devin Jacobs, Utility-Player DeAaron Davis, OT Nick Afanou, OG Isaiah Neal-Woodard, Center Kameron Robinson and LB Tobi Oladeinde. Keys to success for the new head coach include leaning on the foundation of S.A.I.D. (Structure, Accountability, Integrity, and Discipline).

Fort Bend Clements posted a 1-9 mark last year and found its only win in non-district play against Westside. The Rangers are set to return second-team, all-district fullback Shane Kasik. Other players to watch include QB Trey Rivera (947 yards, 6 TDs), RB George Jreissaty (829 yards, 5 TDs; 257 yards receiving) and LB Conner Moore (57 tackles, 2 sacks).

Fort Bend Dulles went 1-9 in the 2024 season and registered its lone victory against Fort Bend Clements in a 42-28 victory. The Vikings are set to return second-team, all-district Defensive Tackle Jordan Ohakawa. The incoming senior is listed at 6-foot-1, 250 pounds and will be an anchor on the line.
