It is awards season here at VYPE!
We welcome you to the Countdown to the 2020 VYPE Awards presented by Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. Over this week we will be unveiling the finalists for the player of the year awards. Team and Coach of the Year Awards will be announced during the show!
The winners will be honored in a one-hour virtual show on Sunday at 6 p.m. on VYPE Houston's website and Twitter account and on the VYPE Texas Facebook page! It will be an event to get dressed up for and to tune in to as it will be an evening full of special moments!
Let us get it started! Here are the finalists for Public School Boys Swimming Player of the Year!
David Oderinde, Klein Oak
David Oderinde is a senior at Klein Oak. At the 2020 UIL State Swim Meet, he took the first in the 50-yard freestyle, second in the 100-yard freestyle, swam the first leg on the gold-medal 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay. Oderinde left state with four medals.
Matthew Tannenb, The Woodlands
Matthew Tannenb is a senior at The Woodlands. At the UIL State Swim Meet, Tannenb took first in the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle.
Victor Tremblay, Kingwood
It’s a Kingwood boys sweep at UIL State Swimming! Kingwood Park grabbed 5A title to start the day & Victor Tremblay helped Kingwood add nightcap 6A crown. Victor Tremblay was the anchor on the second-place 200-yard medley relay and was the lead on the third-place 200-yard freestyle relay.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEE -- Elyssa Coleman, Atascocita
The Texas-signee patrolled the middle of the paint for Atascocita the past several seasons. Coleman is a generational type player for the Eagles.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEE -- Kyndall Hunter, Cypress Creek
The Lady Cougars went 41-1 and were led by Kyndall Hunter. The junior is among the country's top women's basketball prospects, being ranked No. 32 for the Class of 2021 by ESPN.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEE -- Kamryn Jones, Magnolia West
The University of Houston-signee ruled the roost at Magnolia West. Jones is super athletic and could get to the rim when ever she needed.

George Ranch's Emilee Ulke
George Ranch's Emilee Ulke was selected as a 1st team All-Region Goalkeeper by TASCO, which released their all-region, all-state lists recently.
Fulshear Men's Soccer
Fulshear boys soccer racked up four selections by TASCO at the beginning of this week. Cole Burke (HM All-State Goalkeeper), Isaiah Figueroa (HM All-State Forward), Marcel Perez (1st team All-Region Defender) and Javier Garcia Del Toro (1st team All-Region Midfielder) were all honored by TASCO.
Foster Women's Soccer
Angelica Bochus
Four Foster soccer players were recognized by TASCO this week. Three from the women's team and one from the mens. Grace Shivers (2nd team all-region goalkeeper), Elise Cheramie (2nd team all-region defender) and Angelica Bochus (2nd team all-state forward) were selected from the women's team. Nicholas Arellano (1st team all-region forward) was the lone pick from the men's team.
Fulshear Women's Soccer
Amelia Hebert, Fulshear
No surprise here. Fulshear women's soccer was rolling with a 10-0 record in district play until everything stopped. The Chargers finished the year 20-4-1. Amelia Hebert (2nd team All-State Defender), Mikayla Counce (HM All-State Defender), Ellie Mikeska (1st team All-Region Midfielder) and Reagan Crawford (1st team All-Region Forward) earned some state-wide recognition. Crawford, as a freshman, led the team with an amazing 38 goals this season. She also had 10 assists. Mikeska finished with 20 goals and a team-leading 15 assists on the year. This was an amazing group that was primed for big things.
