VYPE U: Lake Travis Defeats Akins With No-Hitter

As afternoon turned to evening, you could feel the excitement building in Burger Stadium, as fans of both the Lake Travis Cavaliers and Akins Eagles waited with intense anticipation for the game to come. Then just as the temperature started to drop, the first pitch was thrown.

Lake Travis came out swinging, and in the top of the first, they were able to score five runs behind a multitude of singles. In the bottom of the first, Akins showed some fight making contact with the ball multiple times, however, that contact would not turn into anything substantial as the Cavaliers were able to keep the Eagles off the bases.

The second inning is where Lake Travis was really able to hit their stride as they scored 10 runs on the back of a grand slam by Kyle Rader. Akins was not able to respond, striking out multiple times in the bottom half of the inning, and failing to get on base.

In the subsequent innings, the Cavaliers would score seven more runs, putting them over 20 for the night. On the other side, the Eagles failed to obtain a single hit only reaching base due to an error, and a couple of walks in the bottom of the fifth.

Overall, Lake Travis finished the game with 14 hits and three stolen bases. The starter, Jake Litowitz, and two relievers Cole Carroll and Kaden Kent were also able to secure a combined no-hitter in the shutout win. The Eagles were able to strike out five Cavaliers during the game, and play a clean match as they kept their errors to a minimum, only clocking in three during the five inning contest.

As the 5th inning came to a close, the final score of 22-0 was cemented. The players left the field, the fans left the stadium, and just as fast as the excitement built, it left, leaving in its wake a game to remember.
