The 2019-2020 UIL postseason begins tonight and there are interesting San Antonio area storylines going into it. Check out five things to know.
No. 1: Converse Judson is playing for back-to-back state titles and its fourth straight trip to the UIL state final four. The Rockets won 28 regular season games and have an experienced player in Kierra Sanderlin to match their previous marks.
No. 2: Northside ISD has state-ranked San Antonio Clark in UIL 6A and state-ranked San Antonio Harlan in UIL 5A. The Cougars won 17 of their 18 district games en route to the 28-6A title and a 27-win regular season, while the Hawks earned their first undefeated district crown in UIL 28-5A and a program-best 29 regular season wins.
No. 3: Kerrville Tivy is aiming for its third straight UIL 5A state final four appearance. The state-ranked Antlers were tested by a tough 26-5A slate and are experienced from back-to-back state semifinal runs.
No. 4: Beeville Jones won 29 games and advanced to the UIL 4A Region IV semifinal during the 2018- 2019 season, and it's on track to top that after its 31 regular season wins during the 2019-2020 campaign.
No. 5: San Antonio Veterans Memorial has a state championship game appearance, two undefeated district titles and a pair of 30-win seasons in its first three varsity campaigns. The Patriots are expected to add to their resume during the 2019-2020 postseason.
