FIELD POSITION: 2026 VYPE San Antonio Football Rankings — Week 11 | Brennan, Johnson, Steele Pace 6A
03 Nov, 2026
The road to the UIL playoffs is nearly paved, though a few district crowns still hang in the balance
Brennan (8-1) continues to assert its supremacy, extending its winning streak to eight games with a commanding 69-0 shutout of Marshall. However, BFND still has one final hurdle before claiming the District 29-6A title. As fate would have it, Friday’s finale pits the Bears against Harlan — also 8-1 and unbeaten in league play — in a winner-take-all showdown.
Elsewhere in Class 6A, Johnson (8-0) has all but locked up its third consecutive district title, while Steele (7-1-1) has already mathematically clinched its sixth straight crown.
Class 5A boasts similar distinction, with Smithson Valley (9-0) entering the playoffs undefeated and celebrating back-to-back district championships. Boerne (9-0) is on the verge of matching that feat.
Tivy (8-1), meanwhile, slips slightly in the rankings after suffering its first defeat of the season, falling to Canyon Lake, 53-50, in a high-scoring thriller.
Week 11 now offers one final opportunity to settle unfinished business before the postseason takes center stage.

FIELD POSITION: 2026 VYPE San Antonio Football Rankings — Week 8 | The Unbeatens Are Holding Their Ground
14 Oct, 2026
Smithson Valley remains the benchmark in the San Antonio area, with the two-time defending 5A Division I state champion off to a 6-0 start. The Rangers face their toughest test of the fall next week against unbeaten Champion (6-0), setting up a heavyweight clash with potential playoff implications.
The 6A race is also taking shape, with Johnson (5-0), Brennan (5-1), Steele (4-1-1), and Harlan (5-1) continuing to set the pace. In 5A Division II, Boerne (6-0) and Alamo Heights (6-1) are building momentum, while Tivy (6-0) remains one of the region’s most explosive offenses. The Antlers’ 79-56 shootout win over Taylor offered another glimpse of their scoring potential as district play intensifies.
The wins are stacking up, the margin for error is shrinking, and the decisive matchups are getting closer.

POWER GRID: VYPE San Antonio Volleyball Rankings | Major Movement as the Playoff Picture Takes Shape
13 Oct, 2026
Some of the featured standouts of the 2026-27 Pieper Warriors volleyball team.
Isaiah Vela (VYPE)
The finish line is in sight, but the biggest shifts may still be ahead.
After a brief dip in the rankings, Harlan (25-10) has surged back to the top of the SATX power structure. Riding an eight-game winning streak, the Hawks reasserted their position with a five-set victory over rival Brennan (31-7). The Bears will get their shot to respond next Friday (10/23), when the regular-season finale could decide the District 29-6A title.
At 31-6 overall and unbeaten throughout the district schedule, Smithson Valley is making a strong case as the team to beat in Class 5A. Boerne (27-4) and Champion (27-7) aren’t far behind, locked in a footrace for the District 26-5A title. The Greyhounds hold the edge after their 3-1 victory in September, but the race remains very much alive.
Meanwhile, Pieper (24-14) is chasing its first district championship since moving up to 6A in this summer’s UIL realignment. The home stretch offers little room for error, highlighted by a rematch with NB Canyon, the only team to hand the Warriors a district loss in five sets. Still, Pieper stands on the brink of history, so the final push will come down to execution.
