On the individual side, C.E. King’s Dillon Mitchell turned heads with a record-setting run in the 100m, while Klein Collins senior Andrew Jones claimed back-to-back state titles in both the 110m and 300m hurdles, earning 6A Boys Athlete of the Meet honors.
In 5A, Timberview made headlines by capturing its inaugural state plaque. Across the field, elite showings poured in Friday, with Colby Huntress (Anderson), Justin Stewart (Arlington Heights), Jayden Kennedy (Fossil Ridge), Andrew Malan (Lebanon Trail), CJ Williams (Frisco Heritage), and Justin Bordelon (Liberty Hill) all delivering notable results.
Reinforcing their authority in the girls’ field, Fort Bend Marshall cruised to its second consecutive state crown — and fourth in the past six seasons — highlighted by a clean sweep of the relay events. On the individual side, Zahria Bernard (Red Oak), Ashtyn Lewis (Iowa Colony), and Lilly Koenig (Smithson Valley) rose to the occasion at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
