HOUSTON - The 2021 volleyball season has come and gone.

The City of Houston sent a handful of teams to the UIL State Tournament, including Ridge Point, Bridgeland, Manvel, Needville and Bellville. It was another big year for the city.

2028 Cypress Ranch four-star offensive tackle R'Monie Edwards got ranked as the number one player in the state of Texas and number one offensive tackle in the country earlier this offseason.

Edwards was a key piece to the Mustangs offense last fall starting at left tackle protecting Houston-commit quarterback Braden Baker.

In the short term, the Cougars have navigated an arduous district slate, going unbeaten in 15-6A against formidable rivals like Magnolia West, Klein Oak, and Klein Collins. In the broader scope of the spring, THS boasts an astonishing 32-0-1 record, is regarded as one of the top teams in the nation, and appears on a fast track toward yet another State Tournament appearance.

Still, the postseason has a way of leveling the field—meaning no opponent will be taken lightly, a reality Tomball understands as well as anyone.
