This now opens the door for Waxahachie to stake a serious claim as a district title threat, while D’Ville looks to bounce back against Skyline this week. However, the Indians' climb won’t get any easier, as they visit DeSoto on Friday in a matchup that now carries major playoff seeding implications.
Just as surprising was the fall of North Crowley, last year’s 6A-D1 State Champion, who dropped a 37-35 shootout at home versus Rockwall. Still, the Panthers remain one of the most dangerous teams in Texas and will have a prime opportunity to reset against Mansfield Legacy.
While others faltered, Southlake Carroll ascended to the No. 1 spot with a commanding 44-6 win over Trinity, handing the Trojans their first loss of the season. Carroll’s defense continues to be elite, and the Dragons appear to be tightening their hold on District 4-6A.
Elsewhere in 6A, Allen and Prosper both rolled to dominant victories in District 6-6A, setting up what could be a tense race for the top down the stretch. Lewisville, Coppell, and Denton Guyer were all idle but remain lurking just outside the top tier.
In 5A and below, South Oak Cliff, Aledo, and Lone Star all handled business with lopsided wins, while Celina remained unbeaten and now preps for a key 4A matchup against fellow 4-0 Panther Creek.
With district play heating up and top-ranked teams proving they can bleed, Week 5 offers plenty of opportunity — not just for redemption, but for redefinition.
