McKinney High football is pushing forward in what could be one of their best seasons so far. With a 30-13 victory over Flower Mound on Friday night, the team improves to a 3-0 record and looks toward their district schedule. Allowing only two touchdowns on the night, the Lions' defense held strong against Flower Mound. With the ability to shut down strong passers, the Lion defense stepped up to the challenge on Friday night and never looked back. On the offensive side of the ball, McKinney started the scoring early with a Jeremiah Daoud pass to Khristian Mackintrush for a 55-yard touchdown. The second quarter saw a 7-yard rush for a touchdown from Khali Best as the Lions went into halftime leading 21-7 over the Jaguars.
Coming out into the second half, McKinney's Godspower Nwawuihe posted a huge 60-yard run for a touchdown to continue the tone of dominance from the Lions midway through the third quarter. In the fourth, Best scored another touchdown to go-ahead 28-7. Nearing the end of the fourth quarter, Flower Mound saw some action as Payton Stadler recovered a fumble for a touchdown. As the team geared up for the PAT, McKinney's Ashton McShane blocked the kick and returned it for an additional two points on the McKinney scoreboard sealing the 30-13 victory.
