As Tulane prepares to face off against an undefeated SMU on Thursday night, fans might recognize some familiar faces making their return to the DFW-area on Tulane's side of the ball. They’ll be tested again this week when they travel to Denton Guyer — a team that looked much sharper in a bounce-back win over Martin.
Southlake Carroll and Duncanville are as formidable as ever. Carroll handled Hebron with ease and now prepares for a tricky road test at Byron Nelson. Duncanville, fresh off a hard-fought win over South Oak Cliff, heads into a bye week with confidence and key reps under their belt.
Elsewhere in 6A, Lewisville impressed with a strong win over Byron Nelson and will look to keep momentum against Rockwall. Allen and Prosper have yet to be seriously tested but remain undefeated and efficient in all phases.
In 5A, Aledo continues to impose its will defensively, while South Oak Cliff — despite a narrow loss — remains dangerous. Denton Ryan and Frisco Lone Star are both off to strong starts, showing discipline on both sides of the ball.
Highland Park rebounded with a dominant shutout of Lovejoy, and 4A power Celina held off La Vega in a shootout thriller, setting up an exciting matchup with Gunter.
With district play approaching, the coming week could offer even more clarity as top programs begin facing real resistance.
