After making it to the state championship game last season, the Dallas Christian School Chargers have been having a tough start to the new year. With a fresh start on the horizon for district play, though, the team just might have what it takes to regroup, focus, and prepare for the rest of the season.
A Look Back
Last season, the chargers went 19-17 overall and finished their season as the TAPPS State Runner-Up. Throughout non-district play, the Chargers prepared by defeating the likes of Carrollton Prince of Peace, Cayuga, North Lamar, and more before entering district play. In district, the team was strong, focused, and determined as they took down the likes of Bishop Dunne, Tyler Grace Community, Brook Hill, Frisco Legacy Christian Academy, and more to finish at the top of their district standings with a 7-1 district record. In playoffs, the Chargers were able to post victory after victory as they fought for their chance to play for a state title. Despite a tough effort, the team fell 60-49 against McKinney Christian in the TAPPS State Title game.
This Season
Preseason play has been less-than-ideal for the Chargers as they've had a tough schedule to play against. Starting the season with a streak of losses, their most recent victory came in a 70-34 trouncing over Bishop Dunne. As the team looks forward to their district schedule, they are focused on turning the ship around and having a great district record. The Chargers are gearing up to face-off against Carrollton Prince of Peace, Waco's Vanguard College Prep, McKinney Christian Academy, and more. Many of the teams they face in district this season, they have a history of playing against already-- a history of posting strong victories over.
Their first district game is scheduled on Friday, January 6th against Carrollton Prince of Peace in front of a home crowd. Fans can expect to see the Chargers get back on track and focus on the rest of the season ahead. Look for fast play on the court as the team prepares to step up through district play!
