Byron Nelson Bobcat basketball has been known to not only hold themselves to a high standard on the court, but to fulfill their goals of being excellent year in and year out. Trophy Club Byron Nelson is on the hunt for a state title appearance and it isn't far fetched to think that they are inching closer and closer to getting there. VYPE DFW takes a look at their season so far and what fans can expect of the Bobcats:
Last season, the Bobcats posted an incredible 11-1 district record to finish their district in the first-place position ahead of Keller and school district rival V.R. Eaton. Byron Nelson made a strong playoff push finishing their season- including a huge 72-70 win in overtime over North Crowley- before falling to state semifinalists Richardson. With a 22-4 overall record last season, Byron Nelson is ready to do the same and maybe even go further this season.
So far this season, Byron Nelson has posted a 70% winning percentage and a 14-6 overall schedule (1-0 in district play). The team has posted big wins over the likes of Arlington Lamar, Dallas Adams, Justin Northwest, Euless Trinity, Timber Creek, and more. Led by juniors Finley Bizjack and Conner Lindsey as well as senior Jakob Zenon, the Bobcats can be expected to have strong scoring throughout district play and into playoffs. Bizjack currently averages 23.1 points per game while Lindsey averages 10.2 and Zenon averages 12.9.
As the team works through their district schedule, fans can expect to see a strong playoff push with fast-paced offense and a strong defense to keep up with their opponents. Could this be the year Byron Nelson makes a state tournament appearance? It looks like they could make a strong argument for it!
