Lufkin opened the season and pushed the state champion Longview Lobos in its opener. In the end, the Panthers fell just short losing 24-21.
A big part of the success in the game was quarterback Jordan Moore.
The junior went 13-for-25 for 189 yards and one touchdown. Because of this performance Moore earned the Lufkin Athlete of the Week presented by T-Mobile
